David Shead Report

Dear Armwrestling friends

I am pleased to report to you that the IV Open Romanian Romanati Trophy in Caracal City on 24th May was a great success. There were five countries, two hundred competitors and approx. 350 entries, both left and right handed classes were run on the same day on 3 tables.

An updated electronic score system developed by the Romanian Federation, gave both competitors and referees additional information about what was happening and the timing of the bouts.

As I expected, the competition was well organised, and the Romanian people were very warm and friendly. When I saw the very strong Bulgarian team arrive I expected them to take several of the trophies - and they did! However, I didn't expect how hard they had to work to get them, as the level of wrestling was very high.

The other thing that surprised and impressed me was the amount of Romanian competitors who spoke good English. I'm looking forward to going back in a few weeks to the National Championships.

All in all it was a great competition and worth attending next year.

Regards
